Zigadoo Moneyclips
alternative/reggae/funk
Zigadoo Moneyclips, arguably Memphis’ most fascinating and eclectic new band, conjures up visions of Rick James backed by a New Orleans jazz band at a grungy house party (yes, they’re that much fun). Armed with a brass-heavy sounds, comically sharp lyrics, and an undeniable funkiness, Z$ carries the torch of other Memphis-based weirdos like Tav Falco’s Panther Burns and the Bar-Kays into the 21st Century.
Formed in Memphis in 2013, Z$ has worked its way to national attention by way of their Indie Memphis Film Festival-nominated music video “Telephile” and a week-long stand at some of NYC and Brooklyn’s most fabled venues. They have also been touring on the strength of their most recent album, Her|Story, which was rightly heralded as one of the year’s strongest local releases. In addition to making music, Z$ stays involved in local charities and in organizing benefits for community outreach and support.
