The Sheiks

rock & roll

With their heavy-hitting blend of garage rock, psychedelia, and Stax-esque soul, the Sheiks have become a staple on the Memphis rock scene and have even been compared to the Rolling Stones by music critic Chris Shaw.  Although the Sheiks were formed in 2012, the trio of Keith Cooper, Graham Winchester, and Frank McLallen have been performing together for nearly a decade, largely in the juke joints of North Mississippi. The group has three releases under their belts as the Sheiks, most recently the 7’’ I’m Broke/I’m Gonna Make it in My Mind, which was released in August 2015.

The band is currently on tour as the backing band to Memphis indie stalwart Jack Oblivian, who was previously a member of  Tav Falco’s Panther Burns, the Oblivians, the Compulsive Gamblers, and more. In other words, the Sheiks find themselves in good company and promise to be a force in Memphis music for years to come.
