PreauXX
hip-hop
A native New Orleanian who has lived in Memphis since the age of ten, PreauXX (pronounced “pro”) has found inspiration from both legendary cities and their musical legacies. “I incorporate [both cities influence] by the different styles of rap I display. I am big fan of Memphis’ Project Pat and the fast cadences of New Orleans’ bounce music artist,” he says.
Born Christopher Dansby, PreauXX left the University of Memphis in 2010 in order to pursue music full-time and has since released both a mixtape entitled Die Winning and a full-length LP Forever. I Will., With production duties handled by long–time collaborators IMAKEMADBEATS and Alexander Odell, PreauXX says his music is about “society, love, the hustle and social issues in modern time.”
PreauXX is also a co-founder of TRDON, an artist collective focusing on a strategy of music, touring and merchandising. Recently, PreauXX and his team have had the opportunity to open for big name artists such as Big Sean, hosted their own TRDON showcase at Austin’s SXSW, and impressed attendees at Atlanta’s A3C Hip Hop Festival and the Memphis In May International Festival. With an unrivaled determination and a buzz that has spread far beyond the city limits of Memphis, PreauXX is poised to become one of Memphis’ next great hip-hop artists.
